Our name is a call to action. We see the process of reclaiming and creating commons as something just as valuable as the commons themselves. It is a process by which we can learn to work together, experiment, and find new ways to organise our communities, resources and daily lives.

Many of our Commons have been taken from us over time, stripped away, privatised, and commercialised - hence ‘Re~Common’.

 

Despite this call to reclaim, we do not want to return to the past, or the old way of doing things, even though it can inspire us. Within our call to reclaim the commons is the idea that we must explore new ways of doing things, experiment and look to the future.
